How We're Different
Lowcountry Acceleration Academy is a public charter school that offers options for students who need more flexibility and support than what’s typically offered in traditional high schools. Each student receives a personalized learning plan with a flexible mix of online coursework, academic coaching and social-emotional support. We design it all to work with your work and family obligations.

Preparing You For The Future
Our model helps to provide students with a Career and Life Coach who works with them to explore and select the right post-graduate career path. We prepare our graduates for internships, college, military service, skilled trades, well-paying jobs, and more! Students can also participate in relevant, hands-on, and engaging Career and Technical Education programs coordinated by their Career & Life coach. In these programs, students can earn industry certifications, gain real-world experience, and graduate confidently knowing their next steps toward a successful life.

Enrollment Criteria:
- Ages 14-21
- Must have been successfully promoted from 8th grade to 9th grade or are attending their 9th grade year of high school.
How to Enroll:
In the event of a lottery: Returning students receive preference. Permissible preferences include siblings; children of employees or charter committee members, capped at 20% of total enrollment; and active-duty military dependents, generally capped at 10% except certain base-located schools. AECs may use mission-aligned weighted lotteries or preferences for educationally disadvantaged students when defined in the charter/contract and allowed by ESSA. Students eligible for multiple preferences may only be counted under one preference.

Acceleration Academies is tuition-free! Free snacks and drinks are provided in the academy café.

Lowcountry Acceleration Academy is committed to providing safe and reliable transportation for eligible Graduation Candidates (GCs) through our third-party transportation provider, Coastal Limousine of Charleston, LLC. Transportation services are provided as a courtesy to support student attendance and are not a required service of the academy. Participation in the transportation program is a privilege that is based on availability and compliance with the expectations outlined in this plan.
Transportation is available only to and from designated hub locations. Transportation to or from any location outside of the approved hub stops cannot be accommodated.
Registering for Transportation
Transportation assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis. When a designated hub reaches capacity, the school registrar will maintain a waiting list and notify families as seats become available. Students who are unable to utilize the LAA shuttle service are encouraged to use CARTA public transportation. CARTA bus service is available to students at no cost with presentation of a valid student identification card.Families interested in transportation services should contact the LAA Site Lead:

Students take one course at a time.
One class = .5 credits.
Students must attend in person at least 12 hours/week.
Students are expected to complete 24 hours online each week.
Courses can be completed in an average of 3-4 weeks. -
Students graduate with an official Lowcountry Acceleration Academies diploma. We hold several in-person graduation ceremonies per year so that our students and their families can celebrate their achievements.

Acceleration Academies offers laptop computers for students who need them, and a wrap-around support system of educators, life and career coaches and mentors to help remove barriers that cause them to struggle in a traditional setting.

Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy follows South Carolina State Board of Education Regulation 43-170, Uniform Procedure for Selection or Reconsideration of Instructional Materials. Parents or legal guardians who wish to challenge instructional materials should follow the procedures established by the South Carolina Department of Education and use the state-approved Instructional Materials Uniform Parent Complaint Form.
